  Bonjour!

Today's post finds itself in an outdoor shopping mall in Florida, and it is the story of how I discovered that department stores are 10 times better when they have a second floor.

Barnes and Noble. It had an escalator. Forever 21? Elevator. Icing only had one floor, but that's a lot of awesomeness in one story. This being said, I should probably note that I do not come from the outskirts of a small farming community (as it might sound). I've been in dozens of malls that had escalators and elevators. But when you suddenly find that your favorite stores have a whole other dimension... you find the gold at the end of the rainbow. :)

Straw Hat and Blue Surf

  Bonjour!!!!!

     I am back with a long (but exciting, gorgeous, and wet!) day at the beach. It was such a beautiful day to visit the Gulf of Mexico (I keep wanting to say "ocean", but it technically is the Gulf) and take part in sand building, exploring, and body surfing. Which turned out to be a very, very awkward activity to do.
     I was in the water, conquering the waves (in a fashion that only a petite woman of under 115 pounds can do), when I decided to ride out a particularly large wave. It was thrilling enough that, when I popped up for air and saw another biggie coming, I decided to ride again with a vengeance. And I dived into the wave, allowing it to propel me at a rather speedy speed, feeling like a liberated dolphin  when *SMACK*-- my liberation is cut short as I crash into a pair of legs innocently standing in the waist-deep water. And there I floundered, still being at the mercy of the water's force and pressed up against some strange lady's lower body. It was the. most. embarrassing. moment. I. have. ever. had. the. audacity. to. live. through. When I finally managed to push myself away, I had to shout "Sorrrryy!!!" as I was once again drafted into the watery service of the Gulf of Mexico. And I wanted to be washed away into a river that would connect with the Mississippi and carry me back up to Illinois where I would hopefully never have to face the woman whom I so rudely washed into. Sadly, I ended up spending the rest of the day on the same beach. I hoped that the water had been too blue for her to clearly see what I looked like.
     Apart from that mind-numbingly awkward incident, it was a great time. I got some great pictures AS WELL AS some video clips which I hope to share soon in a summarizing video, so stay tuned.

Florida, Flora, and Fauna- Oh My!

Here I am in the Sunshine State enjoying my summer vacation! We drove alllllllllll the way from Illinois, which is over 15 hours of numb rears and leg cramps, but it was definitely worth it. I will be sharing my adventures here in Florida on the blog, so be sure to check in to join the excitement!

Ruby Red Was Her Color

 Bonjour Lady Bloggers!

After a long battle with Political Science, I have finally won the grade I needed and just in the nick of time. You never question your high school diploma until you have been through the frying pan experience of that one class that you just cannot seem to get a good grade in, no matter how hard you study. But victory! I passed it and now I am just trying to put the whole experience out of my memory.

I am really hoping to share some DIYs in the future, as I have finally created a workable working area for myself after- what- five or so years of needing one but not making one? In high school I never studied in my room, so I guess my brain tricked me into thinking it wasn't necessary ever. Bad brain. It's funny how fast it changes track when it bumps its way over milestones at what seems like 80 miles an hour.

My Favorite Things: June Edition

 Bonjour! It's been a while... again... but summer school has me busier than I have ever been at the U during normal semesters. I am taking nutrition, political science, and (drumroll please)... Shakespeare! I have never read Romeo and Juliet, but I would die if I had more exposure to it than I have now. :)
Today I am sharing a few of my favorite things. They are the kind of things that make the difference between a good day and a bad day, and make life just a little bit more enjoyable in their special little ways.

Meet Me At The Eiffel Tower

 Bonjour!

Per the arrival of a new-found abundance of time, I will be traveling the local existence of fun and fabulous destinations with little else but fashion on my mind... I absolutely love this location above, with its flower-decked fountain and European-styled architecture. All it needs... an Eiffel Tower, of course. :)
