I can't believe Thanksgiving is only one week away! So much to do, so little time. I love these fall-themed pieces on Polyvore that capture the sophistication of autumn colors as well as the crisp coolness that leather and plaid add to any ensemble.

Morning Has Broken
Dream Explore Discover Mug: Shutterfly (personalized)
7 AM
Well, the warm temperatures can only last so long. October was generally warm, stunningly beautiful, and pleasantly pumpkins, but now it's time to move on to Thanksgiving. And hooray for the time change! I can get up early and not have to stub my toes trying to navigate in the dark. I actually shot these photos on an early morning of late October and THIS is the one reason I survive 8 AM classes: I am a sap for sunrises. If I could take a picture of every one, I would.
It's really hard realizing that this is my last Fall in college. I just can't imagine not seeing the beautiful bursts of Autumn color on campus, and considering UIUC is famous for its gorgeous scenery, it's going to be even harder to stay away. I will miss walking down the main quad and feeling the open air, seeing the tall, old-fashioned buildings presiding over the fringes of the quad. I'll miss the sound of the bells chiming in the distance and the taste of long john donuts just picked up from the Law Building. I will miss the peace and tranquility the solitude brought me while sitting in the woods with a book or eating lunch in the ACES library (which, coincidentally, was not actually allowed). So many memories make me regret not living every moment to its fullest in the present, but they also remind me of the many great moments I did have and continue to have. I'll miss the University and its superb seasonal campus, but you know what? I'll be back.

Hold the Phone(Booth)
I decided to do a fun take on the typical Superman costume by having a transformation from Clark (Clara?) Kent to his super alter ego in the same outfit. After having the suit on for quite a while, I decided to open it so that people would stop thinking I was A. a Mormon or B. a salesperson and see that I was clearly supposed to be in costume. And it worked! When my photographer and I stopped for sushi, I received a nice comment from an employee and she had the cashier make a reference to her Supernatural Castiel costume at the checkout.
I think I will have a hard time not having a costume when I am an aging adult. It's just too much fun to give up. :)
Did you dress up for Halloween, and if so, what was your new costumed identity?

Set the Sun Afire
Bonjour!
I don't know if it is the season or how the sun sets at this time of year, but either way there have been some beautiful sunsets out lately. This one is one of my favorites because the sky was purple and pink for much of the time the sun was setting.
I've noticed that I seem to talk a lot about the weather or seasons or general outdoor phenomenon lately, and I apologize for the boring just-to-make-conversation tone. The truth is, there is a lot going on right now. I am in my final year of college, I am preparing to start my career, I am a single parent raising a fur child... you get the picture. And through all of that, I haven't managed to lose my sense of procrastinability. I still go on photo adventures, I try to snap a few impromptu outfit pics on random days that I manage to wear something that works, and yes, I still think about blogging. And about how it's been forever since I've posted.
Of course, I couldn't forget how Hulu and Skittles have been there for me through thick and thin.
All this to say, I'm still here. The ideas are still cooking. And I have something big up my sleeve that I am just itching to share once things are closer to finalization. Soon, soon.
P.S. You know those awkward moments when you have school pictures done, and all through high school you're like *o_o* better luck next year? And every time you tell yourself, "It can't get any worse" and "In a year's time I will have had my beauty spurt . For sure this time."?
I got my senior pictures done, and ever since I have been like "I'm in college! I'll finally have good school pictures now!" And then I got them back. In 1/4 of them I look drunk, in another 1/4 of them I look like I am very unhappy about holding a fake diploma and having a cap squish my carefully-done hair (actually I was annoyed because the photographer was trying to get me to smile in a way I KNEW would be hideous on me. When you've had a rocky relationship with school pictures, you quickly learn what works and what doesn't in the hopes that you won't make the same mistake twice). In 1/8 my head is turned so that my chin vaporizes, another 1/8 catches me in a Cheshire cat smile that explodes chin everywhere. And the remaining 2 pictures? They turned out OK. Just OK. Not fabulous.
And at this moment, I am eternally grateful for those 2 OK pictures. As one of them finds its way into the yearbook, I just pray that it won't feel like the oddball it is. But you know what? We can't all be a Scarlett Johansson and we can't all be conventionally beautiful. But we can all beYOUtiful. <3
Finally, for all you lovely readers out there, get this print free from Crafty Collaborations when you use the code beYOUtiful23 at checkout. But hurry! This discount expires October 30th. :)

Le Carnaval Aztec
Bonjour!
September was a wonderfully warm month but today the temps plunged. I ended up on my way to class in a fleece-lined jacket and fleece-lined leggings, sadly enough, and it only warmed a little throughout the day. Butttt, despite the chill in the air it was a beautiful day and I am still excited for Fall. I'm already starting to put my Halloween costume together (but it's a surprise, so I can't tell just yet). How are you preparing for Fall? :)
